Nestled in the beautiful Presidio of San Francisco, The Commissary is a culinary gem that marries vibrant Spanish flavors with a fresh Californian twist. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere, enhanced by its sleek design and the captivating open kitchen, invites diners to indulge in a memorable culinary experience.

With a menu that features both intriguing and traditional dishes, each plate tells a story of creativity and care. Start your meal with the tantalizing Spanish octopus and Spanish pork meatballs, both praised by guests for their rich flavors and beautiful presentation. And for a hearty main dish, the double cut heritage pork chop has garnered rave reviews for its perfect balance of tenderness and taste, ensuring every bite is a celebration of savory delight.

Accompanying these dishes is an exquisite selection of wine and cocktails designed to elevate your dining experience. Guests can explore an array of specialty options, like the Tempranillo / Garnacha from Rioja or a bubbly Brut Rosé that artfully accompanies the diverse flavor profiles of the menu.

The ambience at The Commissary is equally delightful, encouraging a relaxed, leisurely dining experience. Guests often commend the service, with many enjoying the ability to linger over their meals without the pressure of quick turnover. This allows diners to truly savor each course and cocktail, such as the standout concoctions like "Close but no Cigar" and "Toki Doki", expertly crafted by the skilled mixologists.

However, reviews indicate a mix of opinions regarding the overall value and service, with some diners feeling that while the ambiance and innovations are impressive, the food can sometimes leave room for improvement. Yet, the commitment to local and fresh ingredients shines through, placing an emphasis on seasonal dishes that resonate with the ethos of Californian dining.

Fabulous restaurant in the Presidio! We sat at the counter and so were able to see the dishes being made. Everything looked amazing. We had the Spanish octopus, Spanish pork meatballs, and double cut heritage pork chop. Everything was delicious and the service was very friendly!

Positives: The drinks are good. Negatives: The food is pretty average for an astronomical price. The service was sub par for this kind of restaurant. Just because you fold the napkins when we get up from the table, doesn’t make up for the rest of the service you need to provide. Dessert was pretty regular. If you want actual tasty food there are many options outside of the presidio within a 20 minute walk and for a better price. ...pretty much any cocktail bar in SF has good drinks as well.

Great food & cocktails! Share all dishes so you can enjoy more yummy dishes! No rushing through dinner!! You can have the table for hours and no one comes harassing you for the check or more items to order!

This is a very elevated space in the gorgeous Presidio. The menu is clever and the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. Mostly Spanish influence, the menu has flashes of the new California cuisine that has been a staple for the San Francisco dining landscape. All in all, I enjoyed the meal but it won't make it on my shortlist of must-experience restaurants in the city. The service was unprofessional and distracting and the food was gorgeous and ambitious but with some basic technical failures. The ambiance and area (and subsequently available parking!) are worth a visit for drinks and a bite.

Absolutely an amazing place to visit in the Presidio. We came for dinner and sat at the kitchen counter - it's definitely the place I would recommend to sit. Quality of the food was awesome and the bass and snake valley strip was definitely the highlight for our group. For the volume of food you get and quality I would say its not overly expensive. Definitely recommend

We finally made it!! We've tried getting here forever. It was worth the effort. Loved this place. Thought the drinks were great, food phenomenal, and service excellent. My cocktails were great. I didn't catch the name of the mixologist, but he makes magic!!! I started with the "Close but no Cigar" and loved it. I followed up with the "Toki Doki" and could have passed. No fault of the mixer, just not the flavors I liked. My third round, went back to the cigar. If you like whiskey based drinks...it's a winner. We had two starters. The Pork and Duck terrine. It was probably the best dish of the night in my opinion. If you get it you must catch all the flavors by adding the onion jam. We also got the crab fritters. They were good. Could have had a bit more seasoning. We also thought they were a little too small. For my entree I got the pork chop. Absolutely delicious. They dip it in this olive oil, pork fat, rosemary concoction. Made all the difference in my opinion. Make sure you get a piece of the apple with each bite. My partner got the stripped bass, which he also enjoyed. We did skip dessert. Nothing really grabbed us. This is for sure on our go to list for potential dinner spots. We have a close friend coming in from out of time and we will most likely bring him here for one of our meals.

Great great great food. We hosted a client event here so money was flowing to meet the minimum but the food was fantastic. Beautiful plates bursting with flavor, WINE(!!!) and a friendly staff made for a wonderful evening in the exhibition kitchen.

Reserved in advanced. We choose the chefs tasting menu with the wine pairing. Loved every course and the paired wine. Will definitely go back again.
